Our next Cycle to School will take place on Friday 31 May.
If you are thinking about joining us for the first time, we meet at Kings Buildings from 8:15 ready to depart at 8:20. From there we head down Mayfield Road picking up pupils and families from the adjoining streets and turn off from Causwayside onto Sciennes Road towards school. All are welcome 😊
We’re hoping to squeeze one final cycle in before the end of term, but will likely aim to have it a little earlier to avoid the last day of term. Details to be confirmed.
See you in a few weeks.
A big thank you to everybody who braved the rain to join us on our Cycle to School last Friday in support of PoP. It’s great to see how confident the kiddies are in the peloton and on the roads; such a positive start to the day.
Our next Cycle will take place on Friday 31 May. See you all there 😊
Our next Cycle to School will take place on Friday 26 April and will run in support of Pedal on Parliament as one of the PoP events. Arrangements are as normal: meet at Kings Buildings for an 8:20 departure. We look forward to seeing you all there.
A huge thank you to everybody who turned up for today’s Cycle to School. We had a fantastic turnout of around 140 pupils and parents, which is amazing. Thanks also to the children and families who support from the sidelines- we love your encouragement!
There’s a fab video of the cycle in this tweet with some really positive comments in the thread. Worth a look if you get the chance- see if you can spot yourself!
We’ll take a wee break during the winter months but don’t let that stop you cycling to school. Just make sure you remember to make yourself seen with brightly coloured clothing and lights on your bike.
Thanks again for your ongoing support,
Just a little message to say that the first Cycle to School day of this year will be held on Friday 31st August. We were very lucky with the weather last year and hope that we can manage a couple of months before we lose the light and weather conditions worsen. We are still aiming to run the Cycle to School rides on the last Friday of each month.
For those who are thinking about joining in for the first time, we meet at Kings Buildings (on the corner) at 8:15 for an 8:20 departure. We will then head straight down Mayfield Road towards Causewayside and turn left at Sciennes House Place on to Sciennes Road, picking up children and families as we go. It is helpful if those merging in from the side streets do so as we approach but please ensure that you then fall in behind the cycle leaders, whose job it is to set the pace and keep the group together. We would then ask that where possible, you make your way to the right hand side so that the children are on the inside.
A big thank you to all of the parents who have helped out on previous occasions. Your assistance on the road, at junctions and in general is truly appreciated and enables us to run these rides as smoothly as possible.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
P6 Class Teacher
Thank you very much to everybody who joined in and supported today’s cycle. It was great to see so many familiar faces and to have people join us for the first time too. Thanks to the kiddies for your enthusiasm and wonderful cycling efforts, and to the parents, without whom we would not be able to run these rides- that includes those running along the sidelines!
Have a fabulous summer (hopefully full of fun cycling adventures) and we’ll see you for some more cycles to school in the new term.
(Sorry I don’t have any photos from today’s ride.)
Big thank you to everybody who joined us on today’s Cycle to School. It’s wonderful to see so many kiddies on their bikes and just as wonderful to have so many parents supporting our ever growing peloton.
Special thank you to cycle trainers Ross, Colin and Robert, and to the staff who were there to support also.
See you all again on the 22 June 🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻♂️
If anybody happens to have any other photos they wish to share I would love to see them.
We would love to see you all there. Fingers crossed for another sunny morning 😎
